How To Host a Virtual Meeting

--- Remember ---
A Virtual Meeting is still a Troop Meeting - Adult:Girl Ratios Still Apply

On this page, we will provide you with links to resources to help you host virtual meetings for your troop.  If you can spend a little time getting to know your virtual meeting platform, it will definitely make things much easier for you.

There are a lot of resources from GSNorCal.  We strongly suggest you take a look.

Resources for Using Zoom

Useful Zoom Tutorials:
  • How to create a FREE Zoom Account
  • How to set up a Zoom meeting
  • Meeting management control in Zoom
  • Sharing Your Screen
  • How Breakout Rooms Work
Zoom Tips:
  • Depending on the number of girls in your troop meeting, you may want to let everyone keep their audio on or you may choose to have girls communicate via the chat bar
  • If you are are hearing a lot of background noise, look to see who is at the top of the "participant" window - they are the culprit and you, as the host, can "mute" them.
  • A Zoom FREE account is limited to 40 minutes.  After 40 minutes, Zoom will often give you more time.  If it does not, and you need more time, have girl log off.  Wait 1 minute, and then all log back in using the same link.  You'll get another 40 minutes this way.
